After ample speculation, new reports have surfaced stating that a Resident Evil 3 remake is in development and could release as soon as next year. The success of Resident Evil 2 Remake almost gauranteed a reboot of the third iteration of the series, and the fact that the title was also nominated as a Game of the Year candidate at The Game Awards 2019 speaks volumes for its reception. In many ways, Resident Evil 2 Remake won back consumer trust for Capcom, although the firm isn’t simply set on remakes as its bread and butter moving forward.
For example, Capcom revealed Project Resistance not all that long ago. This is a co-op game set within the world of Resident Evil that has yet to really cement itself as a majorly anticipated title, but it’s clear that Capcom has its eyes set on delivering more original experiences. Whether building on Monster Hunter World with the fantastic Iceborne expansion or delivering a wonderful sequel in Devil May Cry 5, Capcom doesn’t appear to be slowing down either. Tjat’s what makes these new reports unsurprising to say the least.
